NTB has a lot to offer qualified drivers. Here are the details:

 

HIRING RADIUS AND OPERATING AREA
 

All drivers must live within a one hour driving radius of the following NTB terminals and drop lots:

  • Byron Center, MI
  • Lansing, MI
  • Carleton, MI
  • Tipp City, OH
  • Columbus, OH
  • Walton, KY
  • Georgetown, KY
  • Indianapolis, IN
  • Ft Wayne, IN
  • Middlebury, IN

DRIVER TRAINEE PAY

  NTB offers a 4-week training program for students who have graduated from an approved driver training program.
All trainers with NTB have gone through a "train the trainer course" to help them understand the scope of training for NTB. We want our driver trainees to be trained, not used for a team operation. During the 4-week program, the driver trainee will be on the same home time as the trainer.

Pay will be $80 per day for each day that you work, with a maximum of $480.00 per week.

After you complete the 4-week training program, you will go on an orientation run with a trainer. This run is basically an extensive road test for a one-day period. You will be paid $80 for this one run only because we are also paying the trainer to be with you on the run.

Upon dispatch, as a solo driver you will be paid the following:

Start pay 28 cents/mile
1 year 31 cents/mile

You will also be eligible for all extra pay and bonuses as described in the experienced driver's pay package and benefits package.

Tuition Reimbursement Program: NTB currently offers a tuition reimbursement program for student drivers. Student drivers may qualify for as much as $4,000.00 in tuition reimbursement. Call or ask one of our recruiters to explain the program to you.


EXPERIENCED DRIVERS PAY PACKAGE

 

NTB's starting pay for drivers is as follows:

1 year experience 31 cents/mile
2 years experience 31 cents/mile
3 years experience 32 cents/mile
4 years experience 33 cents/mile
5 years experience 34 cents/mile

Raises:

Annual review 1 cent increase
Cap 40 cents/mile

Short Haul Loads:

1-50 loaded miles add 12 cents to base
51-100 loaded miles add 8 cents to base
101-125 loaded miles add 4 cents to base

Weekend Incentive:
All drivers working during designated weekend hours add 3 cents to base rate.

Note: All Short Haul and Weekend rates paid over and above current rate and cap.

Pickup and Drop Pay:
$10 after first pickup and/or drop.

Load and Unload pay:
$10 per hour (must physically handle freight).

Detention Pay:
Michigan Meijer Stores - $10/hour after first 1/2 hour.
Intrastate Loads - $10/hour after first 1/2 hour (max 10 hours).
Interstate Loads - $10/hour after first two hours (max 10 hours).

City Work:
When a driver works within a 35-mile radius of the terminal = $10 per hour. Must meet established criteria.

Breakdown Pay:
$10 per hour up to a 10 hour maximum if the mechanical problem causes delay and is no fault of the driver

Bonuses:
Holiday Incentive - an additional $30 paid for working six hours or more on one of the recognized holidays (New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas).

Safety Bonus - 1/2 cent/mile less cost of damages for preventable accidents, freight damages, and shortages. This bonus will be paid out annually.

Log Bonus - $50 per month for no log violations during the month.

Fuel Incentive*

Factory set at 65 mph $0.00 per mile
Governed to 60 mph $0.01 per mile
Governed to 55 mph $ 0.02 per mile
*This is at the driver's discretion

NTB Covers all truck expenses


DRIVER BENEFITS

 

Drivers at NTB are paid weekly.

Pay will be directly deposited into your current bank or credit union account.

PER DIEM PROGRAM
NTB has implemented a per diem reimbursement for meals and incidentals on the road. As this flows through payroll, it allows drivers to reduce their taxes and increase their take home pay by up to $2,600 per year.

After 30 Days:

MEDICAL INSURANCE
NTB has conducted a comprehensive search of the medical providers and has secured a very good medical plan at affordable rates for our employees and their families. Ask one of our recruiters for additional information.

LIFE, DENTAL, AND VISION INSURANCE
This is optional coverage funded by the employee through Guardian Insurance.

RETIREMENT
NTB offers its drivers a 401(k) Retirement Program. Employees will be eligible for the program after six months of full-time service.

FLEX SPENDING
An IRS 125 Cafeteria Plan is available with flex-spending programs for medical and child care expenses.

VACATION
Vacation Benefits with NTB are a follows:
1 year - 1 week vacation
2-6 years - 2 weeks vacation
7-14 years - 3 weeks vacation
15+ years - 4 weeks vacation
All vacation pay will be based on 1/52 of the drivers' average wage.

RIDER PROGRAM
NTB also offers a rider program during the months May through September for drivers with nine months of service and a safe driving record.


QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • 21 years of age or older
  • Must have Haz-Mat endorsement
  • Must have a good work history
  • Must have a good driving record as reported on the MVR
  • NO DUI, DWI, or Impaired Driving in last seven years
  • NO reckless Driving within the last seven years
  • NO railroad crossing violations in the last 7 years
  • NO careless driving within the last five years (includes speeding over 15 mph or more over the speed limit)
  • NO more than one chargeable accident in the last three years
  • NO more than three infractions in the last three years
  • NO suspended license (current). Prior suspensions will be reviewed for cause. Points are reviewed
  • Minimum two years T/T experience (verified) or 1 year plus school (verified)
