What factors are most important to you when choosing a trucking company to work for? Mike Bray says he considered a lot of things, including pay and home time, but it really came down to working for a company that shared his values.

“NTB truly has Christian values. They bring God into the company,” Mike explains. “It’s really nice to have that incorporated into the business. You just won’t find that at many other places. It really aligns well with NTB’s family-oriented atmosphere.”

Mike, who lives in Columbus, Ohio, is no rookie to the trucking industry. He started his career 35 years ago and has worked with us at NTB for the last 24 years.

“Trucking is all I ever wanted to do as a kid,” he says. “I can’t remember wanting to do anything else.”

Solid Christian values aren’t the only thing that drew Mike to NTB. He also enjoys the stable miles, consistent home time, and 99% drop and hook no-touch freight.

“Before I came to NTB, I was driving open road over-the-road,” Mike adds. “As a dedicated driver for NTB with some solid accounts, I know that they’ll have work for me 365 days a year. The stability is a big reason why I started working with them.”

Mike’s route takes him throughout the Midwest and gets him home consistently on the weekends. He’s very involved with his church, so that’s where you can usually find him during his home time. He also enjoys cycling.

Throughout his career with NTB, Mike estimates that he’s amassed around 3 million safe miles on the road. It’s rare for truckers to achieve so many miles during their careers due to the changing landscape of distracted driving. His advice for other drivers looking to have successful careers is all about following the rules and maintaining your truck.

“Take care of your equipment and stay on the clean side of trucking,” he advises. “Don’t try to skirt the rules, because that’s when things can go wrong.”
