During the long, winter months it’s easy to feel sleepy, especially when the heat is cranked up. It’s okay to nap in the house but, out on the road, feeling sleepy can be very dangerous to you and other drivers. Stay alert and focused with these helpful tips:

1. Sleep Before - Getting 7-8 hours of sleep before your trip will start you off feeling refreshed and alert.

2. Eat & Drink Strategically - Before and during your trip, skip the caffeine and foods that are high in sugar. Instead, fill up on water to stay hydrated and energy-boosting snacks to keep you alert.

3. Chill Out - Keep the cab at cooler temperatures and occasionally open the window. Especially in winter, a bit of cold air will re-awaken your senses and help you stay awake and focused.

4. Listen to Your Body - If you feel yourself growing tired and the above remedies are no longer helping, consider pulling over for a quick nap. It’s safer to be off the road, even if you feel like you could keep driving.
