First Comes Spring, Then Comes Spring Cleaning

Midwest winters can be tough on you and your truck, especially when they bring snow, ice, and the salt and harsh chemicals needed to keep the roads navigable and safe. For drivers, spring cleaning should mean more than deep-cleaning the outside of your truck.

Follow this checklist to make sure your truck is in top condition:

Aim High - Begin your cleaning (a.k.a. dusting, vacuuming, window cleaning, etc.) at the top and work your way to the floor. You’ll wipe away any dirt and debris that falls as you move down. Use disinfectant wipes or cleaners for hard surfaces and fabric shampoo on the seats and mats.

Trash It - Do a thorough run-through of any place in your cab or sleeper that could accumulate trash, other than obvious areas like the dash. For the future, opt for an organizer that can help keep snacks and other items in one easily-accessible place.

Get Organized - Spring is the perfect time to find out if you overpack. While it is important to have basic necessities like food, water, clothes, and hygiene products, having too much of these items can make for a cluttered cab and excess weight. Remember: it’s best to pack only what you need.

Tune Up - Put winter, and those winter-worn tires, behind you and see your mechanic for a spring truck check-up and a set of new tires. Make sure your mechanic also inspects your truck’s hoses for any cracks and leaks.
