Four Healthier Substitutions For Coffee

Although most truck drivers depend on coffee to keep them awake and alert, coffee is not the healthiest of beverages. Coffee is linked to digestive problems, as well as an increased heart rate, blood pressure, and stress levels. It may be time to kick your coffee addiction and try these healthy alternatives on your next early morning drive.

Tea

There is a massive selection of teas out there–green, black, chai, herbal, you name it. Tea is an excellent alternative for coffee and can be drank hot or cold. Tea may have less caffeine than a cup of coffee, but it does have enough to give you a boost, along with several antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. Tea is also proven to help stimulate concentration.

Coconut Water

Coconut water is a great way to hydrate yourself in the morning and get that wanted energy boost. This type of water contains a blend of five different electrolytes—sodium, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, and calcium, designed to get your body off to a fresh, healthy start.

Pomegranate Juice

Pomegranate juice is a sweet and tangy option that is much healthier compared to coffee. It is full of antioxidants and energy boosters. Pomegranate juice is great paired alone, or blended in a fruit smoothie for an extra added pick-me-up.

Dark Chocolate

While dark chocolate may not be able to quench your thirst like the other alternatives, it does have several of the same benefits. Cocoa beans contain caffeine like coffee beans do. A bar of dark chocolate may be the caffeine fix you need on the job.
