Happy Retirement, Rich!

On March 25, 2016, Rich Ingersoll hung up his double clutching boots and said goodbye to his NTB family. When we asked Rich what his retirement plans were, he said he had a few projects that Miss Vicki (Mrs. Ingersoll) has for him and he was going to be able to spend more time with his grandkids. He wouldn’t elaborate on which he would tackle first.

We asked Rich to take us down the path of his life that brought him to this day. Rich started driving while on the farm. He then went to work for a John Deere dealership (sorry, Henry). He said he got tired of not doing much, so he asked the owner to buy a tractor/trailer so he could go pick up farm equipment. One of his first trips was bringing a combine to Michigan from Illinois. Rich said, “No one told us how to do it; we just put the equipment on the trailer and took off.”

He then went to work for Clark Equipment in Battle Creek, also hauling equipment. Later, he went to work for Eaton Corp., helping establish and run their Truck Driver Training School. It was there that he gained the experience he would use in his position as Safety Training Supervisor at NTB.

Rich helped us at NTB for 19 years! He said he has a lot of memories and was finding that leaving NTB was a little harder than he thought. He had an emotional ride into work that last day.

We all know that Rich bleeds NTB green, but this was made very clear when Henry Schwarz asked Rich if he had any special prayer requests regarding his retirement. Rich, without hesitation said, “I would like to pray for NTB, that God would continue to bless NTB so that we can continue to provide good jobs for our NTB family.”

We also pray for Rich and Vicki, and for God’s rich blessing on them during his retirement.

Thank you again, Rich, for all you have done here at NTB.
