At NTB, we are proud of the women behind the wheel of big trucks as well as all the women who keep our company operating smoothly day in and day out. While we make it a priority to show appreciation every day, the world will be taking time this month to recognize “sheroes” during Women’s History Month.
International Women’s Day 2022
International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the historical, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day is also observed in support of taking action against gender inequality around the world. We all know the world couldn’t run without women.
Women behind the wheel
While it’s no secret trucking is a traditionally male-dominated profession, women have proven they have what it takes to handle a truck. Statistics tell us that women truckers have fewer accidents, often run more miles, and stay loyal in their jobs longer.
Research by the U.S. Department of Labor shows that women in “non-traditional” industries like trucking often earn more than their counterparts in more traditional careers, with little to no income inequality between genders. The ability to travel and see new areas of the country is also appealing for many female drivers.
