Podcasts are the New Rage
Podcasts have been out for awhile now, but recently resurfacing as a great way to pass the time. Podcasts are essentially radio shows on the Internet, that can be listened to from your smartphone. They are great because they are easy to download, which makes them perfect to listen to while driving.
Some podcasts you can pay for, but there are thousands of options that are free! No matter what topic you are interested in, chances are there is a podcast for it. There are several podcasts made specifically for truck drivers:
- The Road Gunner Podcast
- Trucker Dump
- Trucking Podcast
- Ask the Trucker LIVE with Allen Smith
- Truck Driver 101.com
However, there are a lot more options than trucking podcasts. A great tip is to have several podcasts ready for your drive based on your different moods. You can download a few motivational podcasts if you need a pick-me-up, or even some comedy podcasts if you are looking to laugh.
Audiobooks are another source of great on the road entertainment similar to podcasts. You may be able to check out books for free from your local library using the Overdrive app to see if your library participates."
