Three Healthier Alternatives to Fast Food for Truck Drivers

Whether you’re new to the road or an experienced driver, chances are you’re either sick of fast food or in need of some alternatives. Here are Three favorite alternatives from our drivers.

1. ‘Fresh, Fast’ or ‘Fast Casual’ - Fast casual restaurants such as Chipotle or Panera may seem more costly at first thought. However, the portion sizes are generally significantly larger than typical fast food restaurants (leftovers!), and the food is prepared with ingredients that you can actually pronounce. These freshly prepared meal options are a much healthier option than true fast food, and you’ll get more bang for your buck.

2. Host a Cookout for One - A small, portable grill serves as an enjoyable alternative, especially during the summer months. Before heading out for a long trip, pack a cooler with burgers or hot dogs, and your favorite vegetable. These are easy, healthier meals that get you out of the truck and into the fresh air (added bonus!).

3. Protein Shakes - While not necessarily as exciting or tasty, protein shakes are a healthy and affordable option that will keep you full and energized. Stock up with a tub of protein, a case of water, and a shaker bottle. Plus, if they're prepared ahead of time, they’re easy enough to pull out of your pack and enjoy without needing to get off the road.
