After a long, hard day on the road, it’s easy to splurge on a meal or hotel room. While it may seem nice at the time, your monthly income will suffer. It may be almost April, but it’s never too late to make a New Year’s resolution! Follow these simple tips for saving money while on the road:

1. Think Ahead - If you know you’re going to be gone for a while, practice cutting out the fast food and gourmet coffee stops. Little expenses like this add up quickly and will drain your wallet. Stock up before your trip on non-perishable, healthy foods and water to keep you on track.

2. Monitor Expenses - The first step to saving money is planning a budget. Checkbook and personal banking apps like Mint are free, easy to use, and a great way to keep track of spending and saving, making it easy to monitor the flow of your money.

3. Sign Up for Rewards - Are you always checking in at the same gas stations and truck stops? Take advantage of their rewards programs! Earn points along the way that you can spend later on necessities like gas.
