Fitness Tips For The Road

It shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that exercise is good for your body, but it can also improve your mental health too. In fact, 30 minutes of daily exercise can help reduce stress, improve your memory, and boost your overall mood.

But let’s face it, you can’t fit a gym in your truck’s cab, so how do you make time for exercise when you’re on the road? If 30 minutes isn’t realistic for your schedule, try breaking it down by being active for 10 minutes 3 times a day.

Bring along a few smaller items like dumbbells, exercise bands or a jump rope to squeeze in some physical activity when you get the chance. If you want to ditch the equipment, here’s a full body workout that can be done almost anywhere!

Full Body Workout:

Legs: Bodyweight Squats - Stand with feet slightly wider than hip width. Squat down slowly so the tops of your legs are parallel and stand back up.

Chest: Incline Push-ups - Place hands on the edge of an elevated surface with your arms straight in front of you. Push forward bending at the elbows and make sure your arms are perpendicular to your body. Push your body up and repeat.

Abs: Hip Thrusts - Begin seated on the ground with your arms outstretched on a bench or other object. Extend back as far as possible while thrusting your hips by driving through your feet. Return to the starting position and repeat.

Legs: Walking Lunges - Begin standing with your feet shoulder width apart and step forward until your knee touches the ground making sure your front knee stays above your front foot. Extend to push yourself back up and repeat, alternating legs.

Chest: Standard Push-ups - Get into a high plank position and lower your body making sure to keep your neck neutral and your back straight. Then, push back up and repeat.

Abs: Crunches - Lie on your back with your feet flat on the ground bending at the knees. Place your hands behind your head with your elbows bent. Begin rolling your shoulders off of the floor while contracting your abdominal muscles. Begin to slowly lower yourself back down and repeat.

Happy driving!
