Maybe you’re a radio fan or have a lot of your own music to play while you drive. Sometimes, if your collection is lacking, it can get boring. When it’s time for you to add some variety to your listening selection, here are some ideas for enrichment and entertainment that you can put on while you keep rolling.

Podcasts are popular among some groups, but a lot of people are unaware that podcasts exist for just about every topic. A podcast is simply a recorded audio program that you can listen to on the internet, or download and put onto a device. iTunes has thousands of podcasts available to download, or you can search for individual websites like the Run Smart Hour and Truck Driver 101 to subscribe to their podcasts via email. There are even niche truck driving podcasts, like the Women Truckers Network, and the Christian-focused Truckers Gospel Mission podcast. Not sure where to start? How about some personal enrichment? There are sources for free audio books that you can download or burn to a CD. LibriVox has free audio books that are all in the public domain. Audible has over 150,000 audio books new and old. They’re available through a subscription that’s under $15 per month, and they have a free app to use with your membership and make listening easy.

iTunes U is a section of iTunes that offers free audio of non-fiction studies and college courses (some with downloadable video as well) on all areas of study. Maybe instead of music, today you want to listen to a personal finance lecture, or a leadership talk from a reputable author. Learn another language, brush up on an existing topic, or listen to captivating historical accounts of important events. Remember, iTunes is available for PCs and Android devices as well as Macs.
