Where is your trailer?

Do you know where your trailer is?

That may sound like a foolish question, but it happens sometimes that drivers are unaware of, or have forgotten where their trailer is.

Turning and backing accidents are the most common, and they can be very serious and extremely expensive. The most frequent causes of these accidents are inattention and speed. It’s important to assess every situation and be aware of where your trailer is. Where it will track in relation to fixed objects and other vehicles while turning and backing? Use all of your mirrors to make sure you’ve got a full view. Slow down, think, and give yourself a chance to make corrections if necessary before it is too late.

When you are backing, remember that you have to be aware of all points of the vehicle and obstacles around your vehicle. If you are unsure of where things are get out and look. The extra time spent is well worth the effort by saving you from an accident.

Think, Pay Attention, Slow Down, Get out and Look

Thank you to all NTB drivers for making safety your top priority!
