Driving Tips from the Pros

A lot of wisdom and on-the-road savvy can be gleaned from longtime, hard working professional truck drivers. These drivers have been through it all and can help others avoid mistakes they’ve made or have seen others make over the years.

Here’s what an experienced truck driver will NEVER do:

NEVER Travel Too Fast While Descending Hills

We all know that objects in motion stay in motion, and that principle holds especially true when talking about a loaded semi-truck barreling down a declining highway. Slowing down gradually while driving defensively is the safest, smartest route to go.

NEVER Text While Driving

Sending or reading a text takes your eyes off the road for 5 seconds, and at 55 mph, that’s like driving the length of a football field with your eyes closed, which is something no driver of any kind should ever do.

NEVER Drive Carelessly in Poor Conditions

Driving during inclement weather and conditions make the road a more dangerous place for everyone. You should always brake and accelerate slower than you typically would during favorable driving conditions.

NEVER Drive When Extremely Tired

If you’re exhausted and behind the wheel, you have a chance of nodding off and getting into an accident. Make sure that when you’re driving, and especially when driving long distances or overnight, you’re well rested and alert.
