With high temperatures the past few weeks and more hot days to come, NTB wants to remind you to stay hydrated. Dehydration can be dangerous and lead to headaches, fatigue, and other unpleasant symptoms. Yet many drivers limit their fluid intake to avoid unwanted restroom breaks. If you find yourself struggling to stay hydrated, read our best tips:

Eat Foods That Contain Water

When most people think of food that contains water, they immediately think of watermelon, however watermelon isn’t the only food more than 90% water. Other fruit such as pineapple, cantaloupe, strawberries, and peaches also help your body rehydrate. Vegetables like celery, cucumber, and broccoli do as well. Try Mixing Fresh Fruit and Water

Not a fan of adding fruit? Try sparkling water. Sparkling water has the carbonation some people love, with all of the great benefits water provides.

Increase Electrolytes and Limit Sugar

If you have lost a significant amount of water, drinking something that contains electrolytes can help you rehydrate more quickly. Just remember that sports drinks should not be used as a complete substitution for water, as they contain a lot of sugar. Instead, coconut water can be used as a healthy electrolyte alternative.
